AECENS Appoints New Executive Director

The Association of Early Childhood Educators Nova Scotia (AECENS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Terri Roberts as Executive Director.

Terri has a lengthy background in both education & operating non-profit organizations. Before coming to AECENS she was the Executive Director/Registrar and a Course Conductor for the Nova Scotia Fitness Association (NSFA). Besides leading the NSFA through the COVID-19 pandemic, she was also instrumental in upgrading the NSFA’s academic & business profile and leading the national Fitness Leadership Canada (FLC) board through a renaming & rebranding process in 2020-21. She has received numerous awards for diversity, equity, & inclusion in education, including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for Services to Education for her work in elevating the fitness education profession.

Terri has volunteered and/or worked for many charities & non-profits in Halifax, including 2 decades as a leader of youth & as an adult educator with Girl Guides of Canada. Last year she completed a Master of Arts degree at Mount St. Vincent University and published her master’s thesis, The Pink Dumbbell Problem. She is also a published children’s author with Bradan Press.

“We are very excited to welcome Terri as the new Executive Director of AECENS,” says Susan Long, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Terri’s skill set will take our association in new directions and help us to represent our profession in the early learning & childcare sector.”
